Frank Grillo confirms DC role & doesn’t see a Marvel return! Report confirms the actor will be voicing Rick Flag Sr. in Creature Commandos!
Actor Frank Grillo has confirmed that he will be playing the role of Rick Flag Sr. in DC’s upcoming animated series Creature Commandos. Grillo is moving to DC, and he doesn’t see a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he played Crossbones.
In an interview with Collider, Grillo praised the Creature Commandos script as “fantastic” and expressed his excitement to work with creator James Gunn again. Grillo had previously worked with Gunn on the Marvel Studios film, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, and the two later reunited for The Suicide Squad. Creature Commandos is part of the new DC Universe created by Gunn and producer Peter Safran, who are overseeing all of the upcoming DC projects.
Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ Sequel to Feature Clayface
The DC Studios is working hard on a range of upcoming movie projects that are set to reboot the universe that began with Man of Steel. In addition to this, they’re also developing their DC Elseworlds lineup of projects, which includes a number of exciting titles. One of these is The Penguin series, which is currently being filmed for an HBO Max release, alongside the filming of Joker: Folie a Deux, and the in-development The Batman Part II.
Director Matt Reeves and writer Mattson Tomlin are working hard on The Batman Part II, and according to a new report from Deadline, it may feature a major villain from Batman mythology – Clayface. However, as scripts are constantly changing, it remains to be seen whether or not Clayface will make an appearance in the sequel.

The resurrection of the Batman noir themed cartoon, Batman: The Animated Series, includes the vision from Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams (Bad Robot), Matt Reeves (The Batman) and The Winter Soldier’s co-creator, Ed Brubaker.
